Never thought I'd live to see the day when Bhutan became a status symbol, I first visited as a kid in the 90s and last in 2023 (that picture of Taktsang looks exactly as I remember it) + people of my nationality don't even need passports to cross that border... but the status part doesn't apply to people like us, it is for Americans to flex that they are somewhere 'remote' and expensive right?
Also is it just me but more of the 2016 status symbols are things than in 2026?
Hi! Loved the piece. I’m actually the journalist who wrote the original Hermès fatigue article for Glitz - it’s a French investigative outlet on fashion and luxury (also in English). You should check it out!
Omg Noëmie, I will make an update to credit you! (Or include it in my next letter… I’m new to this!) thanks for pointing it out to me! I can’t wait to read! And thank you for reading!
have my own vintage fur, pair of yeezees, red light mask, and beloved bhutan under my wing... missing a cold foam whatever matcha latte from this list?
I was a guest of a guest, and last minute Super glued (!) a bunch of rhinestones to my eyebrows (what I thought was a smart idea from the drugstore on Collins). I think that disaster may be the only photo reminder I have.
great write up! looking forward to reading your next edition.
Congrats on your launch success- All of it so delicious!
As a Skims enjoyer, I feel validated
I love the NikesSkims collab so much. ❤️ but also, yes I agree with you

I def agree. In 2016, status looked like stuff.
In 2026, status looks like position (and well-being!)
Is that s picture of Tiger's Nest in Bhutan? Love that country. We were there in the early 2010's.
It is!! Amazing eye and ahead of your time!!
I think the Upper East and West Side both worked in 2016, and indeed every decade prior to that for every living person
Yes, I just think it’s having a moment these days: https://www.wsj.com/lifestyle/travel/upper-east-side-new-york-neighborhood-restaurants-33cf1099?gaa_at=eafs&gaa_n=AWEtsqeAbn1rknOTM6xdcPTp2zKoGK1HJTvR1fqY2eRrC6ECdJpRS69naeAVUTFULkk%3D&gaa_ts=6974c5e4&gaa_sig=ZJeP9j3VHCWUXIOfAD18FNd0b522kURnHo_J7Hgq6s8DnloQbkfjekw6tVadJl-797ZMxHBO-sRNeS-iiIOV7w%3D%3D

I think this should be an ongoing series….no?
Def YES!! We change cells everyday why not status preferences?
☺️☺️☺️
I want to do it with other things besides status symbols too—if you have any ideas send my way!
Love your posts! Will do…
The Belle Burden book is my next commute listen, but running to the sex dungeon piece now!
Pics from surrealist party?

Soulcycle fell off
Absolutely. Yeesees, or however you spell it and glossier. Today, red light masks and substack. Does the red light mask work?
I don’t know but I have mine own as I type this 😆
Yes, and I love the way Rachel writes about it too—new things I never thought about honestly
