Happy Monday, everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend. Last night, I attended Smear, the one-night-only reading of Clark Gregg’s new poli-com play, starring George Clooney, Adam Scott, Betty Gilpin, and Laverne Cox. It was fantastic. Sharp, very funny, and particularly well-timed, considering Election Day is tomorrow. I was especially happy to see so many RPS subscribers in the audience. Thank you to everyone I personally know and to all the readers I had never met who came up to introduce themselves while I was stuffing my face with Swedish Fish in the lobby of Studio Seaview. I know those tickets weren’t cheap, and I can’t tell you how much it meant to me that you spent your Sunday evening supporting something I was involved in. My one regret is I didn’t get to tell George Clooney that he is the spitting image of my father. The resemblance is almost uncanny. I really think the two need to meet.
Today, we have another RPS exclusive for you (because at this point, you’re expecting them from me, aren’t you?) We’re in Manhattan, where a Tsar Nicoulai café is heading to a New York Whole Foods, and in Palm Beach, where Caviar Russe has its sights set on the location of a former restaurant space. If anyone thought the caviar craze was winding down, these two developments suggest otherwise.
I wish I didn’t love caviar as much as I do. I’ll put it on just about anything. The only thing I haven’t tried it on is Swedish Fish. Even I have limits.
Also in today’s letter: OpenAI’s man about Hollywood, a society scandal involving two poodles, the sauna is the new golf-course, a million-dollar royal tiara, and Wall Street’s latest panic. A little bit of a teaser: if ever there was a time to upgrade to a paid membership, coming on Wednesday, RPS will be personally walking you through the inside of JPMorganChase’s new members club, Project Ruby. You won’t find that anywhere else, now will you?
