When RPS first broke the news that JPMorgan Chase was building a private members’ club at 726 Madison Avenue, the bank was keeping its cards close to its chest. And it still is. But after digging through architectural drawings, construction filings, and an emerging tech platform that makes searching buildings in the city a breeze, your darling RPS has managed to piece together a considerably more detailed picture of what Chase has in store. The project, known internally as Project Ruby, has been proceeding under a veil of nondisclosure agreements, with precious little information about what has been happening inside the former Bank of Manhattan building at East 64th Street. But Chase has left a paper trail, and it’s considerably more revealing than the bank might have intended. The bank appears to be pouring at least $8.23 million into transforming the property into a three-story playground for entertaining, with multiple dining rooms, two bars, a fireplace lounge, an entire floor devoted to private dining, and enough custom architectural flourishes to suggest that someone has been given a very generous expense account. All rather fitting for a bank that knows a thing or two about those. Interested in a closer look? There’s only one place in the world you’ll get it: right here at RPS, after the jump.
