The imbalance in spending that you mentioned is a fragility of this economy. The wealth effect is real and the boom in asset values is definitely contributing to the spending of those who own the assets, i.e., mostly the wealthy.

I think of our own spending in part as a % of our family's assets.

Asset values at any moment in time are marked idiosyncratically, at whatever the latest buyer and seller agree they're worth. All the assets––financial and physical––would retain the same existence if they were valued at either twice or half their current values. But either scenario would have a profound effect on spending and therefore the entire economy.

I’m not one of the umpteedump thousands who’ve jumped onto your platform. I know far too much about “the rich and famous “ born and raised in Beverly Hills (the original title of my blog/wordpress/substsack”. Frankly my dears. I don’t give a s#%t 👍

Well, to each their own 🤷‍♀️ but I’m sure your thoughts and input would be appreciated here!

Carson. Mea culpa for what appears rudeness. I’m sardonic with a twist of irony and wit. I too was drawn in with your title and the content of your Substack. Recently I decided to stop writing on the site and no longer post for majority of writers saving a handful whom I enjoy and they my shorty stories . I was spending more time reading than writing. J’escuse my bitch y response .aloha. Jenn

No need to apologize! I know the topic may not be for everyone, although my goal is to make it as varied and reported as possible so it is. And if you ever have any suggestions, I am all ears 👂🏻
